CARe represented in New Delhi at high level meeting discussing India's upcoming national action plan on antibiotic resistance

Nachiket Marathe, postdoctor in Joakim Larsson´s group, represented CARe at a high level meeting in New Delhi on the 21st of December involving government representatives and major stakeholders in the AMR field.

The focus of Dr Marathe´s presentation was on the work the Larsson group has done on antibiotic pollution form manufacturing during the past 10 years, and the measures needed to be taken. After the meeting, the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Arun Mehta acknowledged that measures to check pollutants and effluents should be undertaken by the government and there is also a need to "develop clear norms on pharma effluent standards and re-examine the issue vis-à-vis the rising concern of AMR today." CARe concludes that this is an important step forward.
