CARe well represented at EDAR4

News: Aug 28, 2017

Last week, the conference "Environmental Dimensions of Antibiotic Resistance 4" (EDAR4) was held in Lansing Michigan, attracting more than 250 participants from across the world. CARe researchers contributed to seven oral presentations, eleven poster presentation (titles below) and a discussion panel. For more info visit http://www.antibiotic-resistance.de/

Oral presentations:

• A critical view on the evidence for antibiotic resistance selection in the environment
• Minimal selective concentration of ciprofloxacin for Escherichia coli grown in complex aquatic
• Identification of 76 novel B1 metallo-β-lactamases through large-scale screening of genomic and metagenomic data
• Antibiotics and common antibacterial biocides stimulate conjugal transfer of resistance at low concentrations
• Global Examination of Antibiotics and Antibiotic Resistance in Wastewater Treatment Plants
• The next strategic research agenda for JPI-AMR
• Can branding and price of pharmaceuticals guide informed choices towards improved pollution control during manufacturing?

Poster presentations:
• Are environmental sub-MIC concentrations of antibiotics and biocides likely to contribute to antibiotic resistance via induction of mutation rates?
• Exploring the evolutionary history of antibiotic resistance genes
• Identification of a novel mobile sulfonamide resistance gene by high-throughput analysis of gene cassettes produced by targeted amplicon sequencing
• Ozonation of sewage effluent affects the resistome of downstream river sediment
• Sewage monitoring for surveillance of antibiotic resistant bacteria in human populations and their environmental dissemination
• Antibiotic resistance surveillance through urban wastewater
• Antibiotic resistance rates of sewage and clinical Escherichia coli isolates: What is the correlation?
• Metals in commercial antifouling paint co-select for antibiotic resistance
• Using metagenomics to investigate human and environmental resistomes
• Untreated urban waste contaminates Indian river sediments with resistance genes to last resort antibiotics
• CARe – Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research at University of Gothenburg, Sweden
