Would you like to donate money to CARe in order to support antibiotic resistance research?

Thank you for considering a donation to the Antibiotic Resistance Research Centre (CARe). Your support will help us in our vision to limit mortality, morbidity and socioeconomic costs related to antibiotic resistance on a global scale through research.

What we do at CARe

CARe includes over 100 researchers from six faculties at the University of Gothenburg. Together with the health care sector, a network of other stakeholders and collaborators at more than 20 international universities and institutions, CARe aims to generate new knowledge in order to meet the demands that the imminent global threat of antibiotic resistance poses today and in the future.

To ensure a holistic approach, CARe has centered its research on six themes; Environment, Diagnostics, Interventions, Therapeutics, Transmission and Surveillance. Each theme engages researchers from several disciplines with different expertise, creating the foundation for the multidisciplinary nature of CARe.

For descriptions of each theme and detailed presentations of our research projects, we recommend visiting www.care.gu.se/research-themes

Where your money goes

Donations will be used to support research activities within the center, in line with the overall objectives of CARe. This could include acquisition of infrastructure, support for specific research projects, training or educational activities, seminars or conferences that CARe organizes.

The resulting outcome from our research will be published in peer reviewed scientific journals, integrated in education and channeled towards all out-reach activities our scientists participate in. For examples see our homepage (Publications, Education, Outreach & Videos and News and Events).

Regulations and rules, related to donations, gifts or external funding, which UGOT abides to

A donation will be treated according to the Swedish Ordinance on Gifts and Donations (1998:140), defined as “any kind of transfer of property to an authority by gift or legacy which takes place without a requirement for any service or benefit in return and where the property does not constitute a foundation.” The terms “donation”, “gift” and “contribution” are used synonymously in the present rules.

Further, in 4§ it states that “An authority may receive a donation, where the purpose of the donation is closely linked with the activities of the authority, or if a more detailed determination of purpose is lacking.” The “Authority” in this context is the University.

For a full English translation of the Swedish Ordinance on Gifts and Donations (1998:140) click here.

If the donor proclaims (in connection with the donation) certain criteria which, does not meet the “academic freedom” inherent to the University of Gothenburg´s code of honor, the Steering Group at CARe will, together with lawyers at the Grants and Innovation Office at the University, assess if the donation in question can or will be accepted. If necassary the Grants and Innovation Office will assist in drafting, examining and negotiating agreements regarding interaction with external parties and CARe.
